A suspected rhino poacher who was hunting rhinos has been trampled to death by an elephant and then his remains eaten by lions in South Africa.
The poacher’s family were informed by accomplices that he was killed by an elephant in Kruger National Park, who then contacted park rangers. Officials set out to retrieve the man’s body, and found what was left of the poacher in an area known as Crocodile Bridge.
The rangers said it appeared that a pride of lions had devoured the poacher after he was trampled by an elephant.
Glenn Phillips, managing executive of Kruger National Park said: “Entering the Kruger illegally and on foot is not wise as it holds very many dangers and this incident is clear evidence of that. ”
Reports also stated that the remaining accomplices were arrested for further investigation of poaching.
